musicclock.jpg

This is my version of a music clock that I repaired. The original had a disc player. This one is a 36 note, two tune cylinder movement. The movement can be played at will or will play on the hour.

This one was tough to build. I wanted to see if it could be built with no power tools. So I did. The moulding is solid walnut that was shaped by using a scratch stock. It was really tough to shape because it is all cross grain moulding. The dial measures approximately 30 inches across. It has an eight day time only movement.

This is a dial that I painted for a Cherry Roxbury style case that I made. Living here in New England with all of the light houses I thought it was only fitting that I incorporate one into a clock. I painted this one with a moving boat in the arch.
